From today the body of Elizabeth II will be exhibited at the Palace of Westminster, seat of Parliament, in central London. The queen's coffin will leave Buckingham Palace in the early afternoon and will cross some of the most representative places in the city. The coffin will be followed by a procession led by the king and members of the royal family.

The body will remain in Westminster for four days before the funeral scheduled for September 19th. The coffin will be exhibited in Westminster Hall, the great hall which is the oldest part of the Palace. The body placed on a bier is covered by the royal banner, the crucigero globe, symbol of royal power, and the imperial crown. All in the center of the majestic Westminster Hall: the same room where the remains of the queen's father, George VI, and grandfather, George V, of the queen mother and also of Winston Churchill were exhibited.

The funeral home will open this afternoon and will remain open day and night until next Monday at 6:30 am, the day the funeral will be held. No one will be able to stop in front of the queen's coffin. Furthermore, Scotland Yard has warned that the wait for the queue could be up to 35 hours. In any case, you will queue even at night because the queue will have to be constantly moving.

The return to Buckingham Palace

The coffin of the sovereign arrived last night at Buckingham Palace, in front of which there was a large crowd waiting for hours in the rain. Inside the palace that was for decades the official residence of Elizabeth, to welcome the mortal remains of the sovereign and her own children. Il King Charles III with the queen consort Camilla, the princess Anna, the prince Edward, the prince Andrew and the grandchildren including William and Harry with their respective wives.

The monarch's body crossed Scotland, stopping also in Edinburgh where tens of thousands of people greeted his passage. Upon her arrival at Buckingham Palace, the hearse was greeted by thunderous applause from the thousands who awaited the return home of their beloved queen.
