"I run against fear"

From discovery to the fight against cancer

It was the last days of January. It was cold outside when Lysandra, after a long day of work and a hot shower he found he had a tumor. A ball on the right breast. His heart stopped in that instant but his mind remained clear. And so he immediately booked aultrasound.

The screen showed the contours of her lump, not well defined, like that of a cyst, but jagged. From the examination it turned out to have a carcinoma. 15 days after diagnosis, Lysandra found herself immediately in the operating room for the quadrantectomy.

A small but very aggressive and fast tumor that anguishes and terrifies you but Lysandra shows herself to be a strong and courageous woman. He gives up work to devote himself completely to his children, who are his only strength.

Lysandra decided to follow her to fight her tumor Veronesi Foundation, which gave life to the project Pink is Good. The goal of the project is the 42 km of the New York City Marathon. Candidates for the project must be operated women capable of undertaking a training course.

So Lysandra applies and is chosen. Since March she has been training three times a week with other women who have experienced the same experience. They are his new extended family. They share the effort but also their rebirth. Because you can be reborn and fight a tumor.

Lysandra believes that running is life, a healthy endeavor that has the scent of redemption. 42 km and 195 meters are not few, the head struggles more than the legs not to give up. But this great woman is ready to face the Marathon to be held in New York on 5 November.

Step or run at the PittaRosso Pink Parade

Exercising reduces the risk of breast cancer and decreases the risk of relapse in patients who have already been affected by the disease.

This is why the Veronesi Foundation is a partner of the Pitta Rosso Pink Parade, the 5 km walk or the 10 run to raise funds to support research. The fourth edition will take place on 22 October in Milan.
