Is called In The Shade Of The Blooming Mulberry Before The Blooming Flowers, an evocative name, for the inaugural project by Philippe Terrier-Hermann and YannValladon, curated with Rosa Anna Musumeci and Emmanuel Lambion at Villa Iblea.

Villa Iblea is located in Modica, in the province of Ragusa. Modica is known for being the birthplace of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, Salvatore Quasimodo. A sweet premise, for a town also famous for its chocolate and the industrious beauty of the South East. A panorama capable of inspiring art.

The Villa Iblea project: a multipurpose cultural center

In this poetic and traditional humus, Villa Iblea is a candidate to become a multipurpose cultural center capable of "reviving the stones of the place". Villa Iblea focuses on art and cooperation, announces a pre-inaugural exhibition, an exchange of points of view, capable of creating a fulcrum of attention. A happy island within the island, to learn, transmit, share, redefine and build. A place that takes its roots into account, and grows with respect for local identity, while maintaining a decisive openness to international research and experimentation.

The techniques of the artists on display at Villa Iblea

The artists on display are 26, a representation of Italians and foreigners, to suggest all the media of contemporary art. They range from painting, to drawing, passing through photography, video, embroidery, sculptures. But it doesn't stop there, here are installations, sound art. Works that also range in the use of various techniques: made on canvas, paper, fabric assemblies, ceramics, special and electronic media. The works create an itinerary, a path of suggestions, distributed in a composite rural architecture undergoing restructuring.
