The city of Lecco hosts the Treccani Festival of the Italian language by 21 24 to September. This is an event now in its sixth edition and born from Treccani Culture in order to present the constant research conducted by Treccani on Italian language, paying particular attention to the value of words as a means of expression and reasoning, of sharing and respectful comparison between different positions.
The sixth edition of Treccani Festival of the Italian language
An event organized to help people appreciate and study the Italian language through thematic meetings, educational workshops and shows.
This edition is dedicated to the memory of the illustrious scholar, linguist and philologist Luca Serieanni, who passed away in July last year due to an accident. The Festival, year after year, focuses its attention on particular words with the campaign #words are valid. That choice this year is amazement. We will present the various interpretations of this term which implies the wonder, the stun, the exceptional nature of something that happens.
Here is the definition of the term second Treccani:
" It is an ambiguous word, which indicates a universal human experience which, at the same time, is related to the mentality and collective sensitivity of an era. Today, in fact, since human beings have brought much of the world back to a rational explanation, we are no longer surprised by what would have struck, disorientated or amazed men and women of other times.
Yet, we often tell ourselves and feel lost and surprised, while, mostly with indifference, we are hit by a constant production of information and audiovisual impulses. It is perhaps worth, then, to focus on what in our world amazes us or should amaze us, and why. Amazement is a fundamental experience, which calls into question the usual categories with which the world is structured, and makes curiosity flourish".
The intent of the Festival
This is the first big one festival dedicated to Italian language. It was a traveling event that began in May and continued in June in Rome and Lecce to end these days in Lecco.
La Treccani Culture Foundation aims to promote, through the festival, reflection on issues capable of involving public opinion and professionals in order to create a constructive dialogue that can compare different positions. The Festival also aims to present the liveliness of the Italian language.
Here the complete program of the festival.
An event that demonstrates how the Italian language, the fourth most spoken language in the world, is still alive and vital.
