Badolato, is an enchanting medieval town, located in Calabria, in the province of Catanzaro, nestled among the hills of the Ionian coast, located on a promontory overlooking the Gulf of Squillace. This year, it stood out by winning second place as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, as part of the "Il Borgo dei Borghi" competition, which celebrates the beauty and historical and cultural value of small Italian historic centres. The origins of Badolato date back to the era of Robert Guiscard who had the castle built in 1080, creating a fortified village. Over the centuries, Badolato has been a fiefdom of illustrious noble families such as the Ruffo, the Di Francia, the Paparo, the Pignatelli, who enriched the village with splendid architecture and a priceless cultural heritage.

Every little street, every corner of the village tells a story, from the numerous churches rich in sacred art, to the noble palaces that stand majestically, up to the granite portals that bear witness to centuries of history and tradition. Among the noble palaces, the majestic one stands out Palace of the Paparo barons built between 1770-74.

Palazzo Paparo in Badolato

Palazzo Paparo extends over an area of approximately 2.600 square metres, within a vast 40.000 square meter plot of land cultivated with citrus groves. This residence, which also has a private chapel, was built in 1700 as an agricultural structure. During the 800th century it was restored to become the owners' residence and subsequently, in the 900th century, it was further modified, transforming it into an elegant summer residence.

Its magnificent portal is made up of two cylindrical columns of Gallipari granite. The property has two entrances, one which leads to the citrus grove and the other which opens onto a beautiful square courtyard through a driveway door. The building, which is structured around this courtyard, includes large rooms overlooking the garden, eight bedrooms, almost all with bathrooms, a library, a large dining room and various living rooms. A wing of the building is dedicated to service spaces such as the caretaker's house and offices. The flooring of the courtyard and the palace is of particular value, as are the ceilings, decorated with hand-painted wallpaper.

This splendid noble palace is for sale at a very interesting price. For information, contact Domenico Leuzzi mobile number +39 328 165 5773
