Checco Zalone continues to dominate the Italian box office with numbers that speak for themselves. In just three days since its release, Buen Camino has grossed nearly €20 million, drawing approximately 2,5 million admissions, becoming the top-grossing film of the current season—that is, among films released after August 1st. It remains behind Zootopia 2, with €15,5 million, and Avatar: Fire and Ashes, with €13,6 million.
Record-breaking Zalone with Buen Camino
The result is even more significant when considering the bigger picture for 2025: after just three days on the air, Zalone's film is already second overall among all Italian releases of the calendar year, preceded only by Lilo & Stitch, which hit theaters on May 21st and grossed €22.318.920. A record that, at this point, appears destined to fall very quickly, given the overwhelming performance of Buen Camino.
Saturday, December 27th, confirmed the complete dominance of Gennaro Nunziante's film. In a single day, the film grossed an additional €6.129.079, drawing 759.752 viewers to theaters. In practice, more than two out of three Italians who went to the cinema yesterday saw Buen Camino: 68% of the total audience. According to data released by Cinetel, total box office receipts in Italian cinemas yesterday were €8.920.704, with 1.089.558 admissions. This is an impressive figure, especially when compared to December 27, 2024, when it represents a 96,6% increase.
The film's record-breaking run began on Christmas Day, with a debut of €5.614.751, followed by a Boxing Day boom, closing with €7.918.273. These numbers hadn't been seen during the holiday season for nearly fifteen years, and when added to yesterday's gross, Buen Camino's total grosses reach €19.662.103. A triumphal march that once again confirms Checco Zalone's place in contemporary Italian cinema.
