Europe is overwhelmed by a cold wave Early. An Arctic pulse, originating in the Nordic countries, is moving toward the center and south of the continent, bringing with it falling temperatures and the first snowfalls, even at low altitudes.
Frost is also coming to Italy
According to experts, the cold front will initially affect Germany, France, Poland, and the Netherlands, with temperatures dropping by up to 15°C compared to the previous days. But the irruption will not spare the Mediterranean: Italy and Spain will suffer the effects of this freezing air mass.
In the North, the Alps will partially protect the plains, but widespread frost is expected on the coldest nights and heavy snowfall in the mountainsIn central and southern Italy, the arrival of cold air could trigger thunderstorms and snow on the Apennines above 1.200–1.400 metres.
Fear for agriculture
Night frosts and low-lying snow can create problems for agriculture, transportation, and daily life. This is a true preview of winter, with weather models confirming the Arctic irruption across Europe. For many snow enthusiasts, this is good news, but communities and infrastructure will need to remain vigilant. Caution remains high: the intense cold could last several days, marking an abrupt change in season sooner than expected.
