Today at the Farnesina is Italian Sports Day in the World.

There is a language that needs no translation, and that Italians around the world know well: the language of sport. Today, Monday, September 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., the International Conference Hall of the Farnesina will host the third edition of the Italian Sports Day in the World, this year entitled “Italy: Land of Enterprise, Sea of Excellence”.

Gathered around Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani are Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi, CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio, and Italian Paralympic Committee President Marco Giunio De Sanctis. But the real audience for this day is much larger than the Roman walls: the initiative involves over 300 diplomatic-consular offices and Italian Cultural Institutes spread across every continent, bringing the blue colours even to where millions of compatriots and descendants live.

Because sport, for those with Italy in their blood and perhaps even in their last name, is never just a competition. It's a way of feeling part of something. How many emigrant families have passed on, along with nostalgia, the passion, discipline, and pride of cheering for a team? Sport thus becomes a bridge: what unites Italy to its children scattered around the world, generation after generation.

But the Day is not just about memory and identity. It is also about the economy and the future. The sports sector in Italy generates approximately 32 billion euros of added value, equal to 1,5% of GDP, with exports of sporting goods exceeding 4,7 billionDuring the meeting, the international roadshow for the promotion of theAmerica's Cup Naples 2027, and Minister Tajani will appoint the new ones Ambassadors of Sports Diplomacy.

For Italians around the world, all this sounds like a call: Italian excellence isn't a faded memory, but a living heritage, one that continues to run, swim, and win. And every time it does, it also brings with it a piece of those families who left Italy, but never truly forgot it.
