Italian fashion is famous all over the world and Pitti Uomo is the most important international fair and event dedicated to men's fashion and lifestyle. Today, June 16th, the curtain rises on the 110th edition of Pitti Uomo. At the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, one of the most anticipated events on the international men's fashion calendar will take place until June 19th. Buyers, designers, journalists, and industry professionals from around the world will once again converge on a city that needs no introduction.
Over 740 brands from over 30 countries are present, with a foreign share of nearly 44% of exhibitors. A number that says it all. The theme chosen for this edition is "The Pool," with a precise symbolic image: a modern-day Narcissus sitting poolside, suspended between his own reflection and the desire to dive in. Not the sporting hero of summer imagery, but a man balancing the construction of his image and the search for his own identity. A subtle, almost philosophical concept, applied to fashion and perfectly in tune with the times we live in, in which the way we dress is increasingly an act of awareness even before it is of style.
Pitti Uomo's guests
This year's calendar is packed and international. Irish designer Simone Rocha will present her first independent show entirely dedicated to menswear on Thursday, June 18th, at the Teatro della Pergola. Japanese designer Kei Ninomiya will present his new menswear collection at the Sant'Orsola Complex. Special Guest Jiyong Kim, one of the most anticipated talents of the 2024 LVMH Prize, will present a special project in the spaces of Magazzino 07 at the Fortezza da Basso. On Wednesday, June 17th, at the Teatro della Pergola, the book "Emilio Pucci: The Surprising Story of a Great Artist of Fashion" will be presented, with the participation of fashion critic Suzy Menkes. A moment that is not just about publishing, but about memory. The story of an Italian excellence that changed the way the entire world conceives color and lightness.
For those living outside Italy, Pitti Uomo is more than a trade show. It's the periodic confirmation that Florence remains the place where Italian beauty finds its most natural expression. Whether it's a tailored fabric or a contemporary installation, here the boundary between fashion and culture blurs. They are one and the same, speaking the same language.
