Two works at opposite ends of Mozart's life. The Spatzenmesse, literally translated as 'Sparrow Mass' – for the onomatopoeic sounds of the violins in the Sanctus, which seem to echo the chirping of these birds – It was composed when the composer was only 19 years old while he was in Munich. The first public performance most likely took place in 1776, in the Salzburg Cathedral.Ave verum, Mozart's last completed sacred work, is a true musical jewel. Mozart wrote it in June 1791, six months before his death, for Anton Stoll, the director of the Baden parish choir, who, while staying in the spa town, had cared for the composer's wife. It was performed among the carols for the feast of Corpus Christi.

A truly special Mass for those who had the opportunity to participate in the Eucharistic celebration – open to all – also enriched by the participation of the singers of the Marciana Musical Chapel, an ancient choral group that takes care of and accompanies all the Cathedral's celebrations. They performed other parts in proper and ordinary chant of the Mass. In addition to the Superintendent of the Fenice, Nicola Colabianchi, Civil and religious authorities participated in the celebration.
