Dentistry: Italian excellence at "Studio Calabria" honored at the CED-IADR conference in Lisbon.

Italian dental research has achieved significant international recognition. During the congress of the Continental European Division of the IADR (CED-IADR)—one of the most prestigious scientific events in the sector, held in Lisbon in early September—the Calabria Studio presented the results of a three-year clinical study, winning the Travel Award.

The research, conceived by Dr. Ennio Calabria, was conducted in collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II and presented together with Dr. Niccolò Giuseppe Armogida, a researcher at the Link University of Macerata. At the heart of the work is the world's first ultra-short dental implant, measuring just 3 millimeters in height, designed and patented by Dr. Calabria himself.

The device opens up significant prospects for patients with reduced bone availability, a condition that traditionally requires more invasive regeneration procedures and longer treatment times. The data collected over three years were submitted to the international scientific community for evaluation, meeting in Lisbon.

The paper was selected from nearly 700 papers presented at the conference and reached the finals of the Robert Frank Award, being one of seven finalists. Although it did not win the latter prize, its selection among the finalists is a significant achievement in itself. Recognition with the Travel Award further confirms the value and originality of the research.

Results like this demonstrate the strength of Italian clinical research and its ability to stand out in leading international scientific circles. This is a source of pride for our country, which continues to demonstrate leading-edge expertise in the field of dentistry.
