Italian Super Cup, Milan comes back from behind and triumphs on Arab soil

Milan wins the Italian Super Cup derby, overcoming Inter's initial 2-0 deficit in a heated match. At the King Saud in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the match ends 3-2 for Sergio Conceicao's men. A feat of heart and courage, with the Devils winning the trophy for the eighth time, equaling their black and blue cousins.

First half

The first half was slow. Barella crossed for Taremi's head, who headed the ball wide, and we're in the 12th minute. A few minutes later, on the Rossoneri side, it was Rejnders who shot wide with a solo effort. Again, in the 19th minute, Theo Hernandez tried to unlock the game with a shot that was too central for Sommer. In the 23rd minute, a golden opportunity for Inter: Taremi served Di Marco who shot hard and found a prompt response for Maignan. However, Inter broke the deadlock at the end of the first half: Mkhitaryan took advantage of a throw-in, served Taremi centrally who found Lautaro: the Argentine feinted and then scored a very important goal for his career.

Second half

In the second half the match becomes more exciting. There is not even time to restart and immediately a long throw from De Vrij, Taremi stops, controls and beats Maignan for the 2-0. Milan however does not accept this, Conceicao plays the Leao card and changes everything. The Portuguese earns a free kick, taken in the 52nd minute by Theo Hernandez who shortens the distance. Milan is on the attack, Thiaw and Pulisic miss two golden opportunities to equalize, as does Rejnders who, served splendidly by Leao, finds the opposition of Bastoni with the goalkeeper beaten. Inter makes its presence felt in the 68th minute with Bisseck who serves Taremi in the area who narrowly misses the shot for the 3-1. Lautaro Martinez and Carlos Augusto do the same, who in the 71st minute “misses” the goal with his head, finding the post and with the ball just missing the line.

In the 80th minute, however, Milan equalizes: Theo Hernandez serves Pulisic in the area, the American protects and kicks the goal for 2-2. The last minutes of the game are fiery. Inter tries in every way but finds a miraculous Maignan to block the Rossoneri goal. Then, in the 93rd minute, a Rossoneri miracle: Pulisic cuts to Leao, who serves Abraham who completely overturns the result for the final 3-2.
