Gela in Centro kicks off the summer with music, shows, and a desire to experience the city.

There's a city that's once again filling its streets with people, music, and sharing. A city that's rediscovering the pleasure of experiencing its historic center and transforming it into a place of encounter, energy, and collective identity.

On May 23, "Gela in Centro" returns, the event promoted by the Municipality of Gela, officially inaugurating the city's summer events season with a second edition even richer, more popular, and more widespread. Following last year's resounding success, the heart of the city is once again preparing to light up with live concerts, DJ sets, street artists, traveling shows, and one of Gela's most anticipated new features: a Cena Cantata di Via (Song Dinner), designed to transform the historic center into a large shared table under the city lights. This format has been widely appreciated and successful throughout Sicily. Starting at 20:30 p.m., the streets of the city center will fill with music, entertainment, and socializing. Not a single stage, but a multi-venue event, designed to engage businesses, venues, and residents in a unique festive atmosphere.

"It will be a widespread event, chosen not by chance near the venues that will benefit from this initiative organized by the Municipality," explains Councilor Romina Morselli, "with tables set up outside and the many attractions along the route, including street performers, DJ sets, and the return of Retroska, a band that was already very popular last year. The idea is to create a large dinner in the square, a long table capable of bringing people together for an evening of joy and sharing, kicking off the Gelamed summer events season in the best possible way."

And this is precisely the message that Gela is trying to convey today, both within and beyond its borders: a vibrant, dynamic city, capable of enhancing its urban spaces and creating opportunities for social gatherings and culture. The vision of Mayor Terenziano Di Stefano and the entire municipal administration appears increasingly oriented toward revitalizing the city's image, rooted in its tourism, culture, and archaeology. Gela possesses immense natural, historical, and landscape resources, a heritage that for too long has remained marginalized by a different, more modern narrative of the region.
Today something is changing.
Investments in the historic center's enhancement, widespread events, the reopening and promotion of archaeological sites, along with the commitment to developing a stable cultural program, are helping to restore the city's identity, one that is closer to its millennia-old history and its true potential. "Gela in Centro" also represents this: a concrete sign of a city choosing to reclaim its spaces, to live in them, and to make them its centerpieces.
