“Noti Magiche” by Paparazzo and Russo won the “Calabria Emotions” competition organized by the Magna Grecia Foundation. for the realization of a short filmThe aim of the film was to immortalize the places and beauties of Calabria, starting from the Costa degli Dei.
Calabria Emotions Contest: The Coast of the Gods Wins
The suggestive locations of Vatican Head and Coast of the Gods enchant the jury of Calabria Emotions, the call for entries issued by the Magna Grecia Foundation, which asked for the creation of a short film that would narrate the beauty and charm of the region. Maurizio Paparazzo and Massino Russo succeeded, in keeping with the competition's intentions, in truly making “Calabria as the natural stage for an immortal work”. Their work “Magic Notes”, in fact, has the aim of “evoke Calabria as a land of sounds migrants in a completely natural way towards: colours, scents, sensations, emotions”.
To the tune of Mozart's Magic Flute and starting from the prophetess' rock of Manto in Capo Vaticano, The work of the two directors takes us on a journey through the iconic and unique places of Calabria. A succession of sites that wants to define “an approach that embraces eras, sensibilities, and naturalistic heritage, capable of conveying a powerful sense of vivacity, nuance, and territorial peculiarities.”
Filming will begin soon with the support of Indaco Film
The directors' intent struck home and convinced the majority of the jury. They met via livestream and selected the winner from among the five finalists. The winner will have the privilege of producing the video, supported by the production company. Indigo FilmA fortunate combination of arts, music, dance, and nature. The direction of Paparazzo and Russo was supported by the artistic direction of Alma Manera. Editedking le choreography by Sabrina Bosco with the participation of the first two dancers of the New Classic Ballet and costumes by Mariella Bruzzese.
These are some of the cast members who will be working on the short film in the coming days. The other works submitted also received great praise from the jury. In fact, the gap between the finalists can be narrowed down to just a handful of votes. The jury evaluated the projects' creativity, originality, screenplay, and feasibility according to pre-established criteria. The jury will continue to follow the various stages of production.

The president of the Magna Grecia Foundation and the Nino Foti Commission , speaking of the many projects received, reiterated that "Calabria can be told in a variety of ways. The one chosen for Calabria Emotions is the most compelling of the proposals received."
The president thanked all the jury members, who, after the hard work of judging the best short film, made themselves available to supervise the production process. The months of July and August will be dedicated to filming, editing and post-production. The short film continues Foti, will be presented on September 10th within SUDeFUTURI, the third edition of the international annual meeting that the Foundation is organizing in Scilla.
