La National Tree Day, established by Law No. 10 of 2013 by the Ministry of the Environment, is celebrated every year on November 21. This occasion mainly aims to raise awareness among students of all ages about the importance of nature and sustainability. This year, the anniversary falls on Thursday, November 21.
Many initiatives in Italy, organized by schools and institutions. Some students will be involved in planting trees, so as to concretely implement virtuous actions of respect and protection of the environment. But also the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Unit Command has organized events in various Italian locations on the occasion of the anniversary. The focus is on the recovery of degraded areas and the planting of native trees. These activities are part of the project "A Tree for the Future”, which aims to involve schools and local communities.
Many initiatives are planned throughout Italy. The events will see the participation of local authorities, environmental associations, volunteers, students and teachers. For the 29th edition of the Tree Festival, more than 250 events are planned, with the participation of 13 thousand students, both male and female, for the planting of 5 thousand trees that will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the European project Life Terra, of which Legambiente is a partner.
