When the snow turns pink
In ancient Greece, wars were suspended on the occasion of the Olympics. In the modern era, wars caused the suspension of the Olympics, and with the inauguration of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the original spirit of the Peace Bringing Games has perhaps been returned. The political-military dispute between the two Koreas was put aside and athletes from the two nations competed in the same team. Perhaps because of this happy atmosphere, the snows of Korea have turned pink. It is unlikely that the name of a male athlete will be linked to the Pyeongchang games. Women emerged as the true interpreters of the Olympic spirit and the power of peace. One above all, the Czech Ester Ledecka, the first athlete to win two gold medals in two different specialties: the Super G and the Snowboard.
The medals of the Italians
We especially like to remember the talented Italians Ariadne Fontana, Sofia Goggia e Michele Moioli who totaled half of the medal table won by Italy: five medals.
Arianna Fontana who honored the role of standard-bearer of the Italian delegation with three medals in the Short Track specialty: gold in the 500 meters, silver in the relay, bronze in the 1000 meters. Sofia Goggia who, 66 years after the great Zeno Colò won the queen test of the Snow Olympics: downhill. Those who believe in historical courses and resorts and a little also in the cabal have noticed that both wore the bib number 5; perhaps it will be the case to adopt this number in perpetuity. Michela Moioli won the gold medal in Snowboard Cross, perhaps the least known and the most unexpected winner, but for this reason the most deserving of having reached the top of the specialty on an occasion like the Olympics.
And now that the Olympic torch has been blown out? We are left with the hope that the athletes who painted the snow pink will have a following of good, clean and honest girls like them who can give a signal of peace to the world.
