It started on Giro d'Italia 2022. It is about one hundred and fifth edition of the event most loved by those who follow cycling, valid as the twentieth round of the UCI World Tour 2022. This year the Giro d'Italia will take place in twenty-one stages from 6 to 29 May 2022 for a total of 3.445,6 km. On average, therefore, each stage will be 164,1 km in length. The altitude difference in the various stages is 50.580.
The organization of the Giro d'Italia 2022
Il Tour of Italy it will touch several Italian regions, but not all. For example, among the big ones excluded are: Sardinia, Umbria, Tuscany, Puglia. There first step today she left Budapest, Hungary. The next two stages will also be carried out on extra-Italian soil. Then on Tuesday 10 May, the fourth stage which will start from Sicilia, a stage considered difficult (4 stars out of 5). The fifth, 174 km long, will go from Catania to Messina. The sixth, again in Sicily, will be between Palmi and Scalea and will be one of the longest of the entire route of the tour: 192 km.
We will continue between Calabria e Basilicata, where the seventh stage will peek out on the path between Diamante, in the province of Cosenza, and Potenza. The eighth stage will be in Naples in a distance of 153 km, then one of the most difficult stages of the entire route (rated with 5 stars out of 5 as difficulty). Cyclists will have to travel the route from Isernia to Blockhaus, the mountain top of the Maiella massif, in Abruzzo, located on the northern side of the massif. The numerous climbs make this stage considered very difficult.
At the tenth stage, we will continue in Abruzzo in a 196 km stage between Pescara and Jesi. Then a stage considered simple on the official website, between Santarcangelo di Romagna and Reggio Emilia, therefore in the middle of the Po Valley. The twelfth stage will be one of the few beyond two hundred km, between Parma and Genoa. On May 20 there will be the thirteenth stage and a wonderful route from a landscape point of view will take place between Sanremo e Cuneo. At the fourteenth stage, a 147 km route between Santena and Turin.
The last stages
In the last stages, many challenging races for the participants of the 2022 Giro d'Italia fifteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia in which you will go between Rivarolo and Canavese, in the middle of the mountains: this is also considered a difficult stage, 4 stars out of 5. The sixteenth stage, 5 stars out of 5, between Salà and Aprica (with length of 202 km). We continue with the seventeenth stage on May 25 between Ponte di Legno and Lavarone. The eighteenth is considered very simple and has a length of 152 km in a flat area. On 27 May we will go from Marano to the Sanctuary of Castelmonte, in a distance of 177 km. Finally the last two stages: the twentieth from Belluno to the Marmolada, considered very difficult (5 stars), the last in Verona of only 17 km. This last stage will close the Giro d'Italia on May 29th.
