Whether you hate it or love it, there is no denying how much the Juventus, over a hundred years old company di football based in Turin, both one of the greatest sporting boasts of our country. Winner of 37 national titles, two Champions and two Intercontinental Cups, it's surely among the most prestigious and followed clubs in the world. To think that everything was born from the idea of a group of high school students from Turin, at the sunset of the XNUMXth century ...
The birth of Juventus and the contribution of the Canfari brothers
And it is in the heart of the historic center of Turin, on a bench in Corso Re Umberto, that the glorious history of Juventus is born. Bench on which they used to meet some high school students Massimo D'Azeglio with a passion for football. The high school students, passionate and dreamers, were looking for an idea, of a project, which could unite them under a single abbreviation, a single name. This idea could only be linked to that fascinating sport that came from England, the undisputed homeland of the stitched leather sphere.
So it was that on 1 November 1897 a new sporting reality was born, which took the Latin name of Sport-Club Juventus, which seems appropriate given its creation by very young founders. Founders among whom were the brothers Eugenio and Enrico Canfari, the first true parents of the Juventus club. Enrico, in particular, made available his bicycle workshop as the headquarters of the Football Club. Right here, in fact, the first meeting to decide the membership figure to favor the existence of Juventus. In the end the first partners were about fifteen and they decided to invest six lire a month.
The beginning of a glorious and winning story
And he was Henry's brother, Eugene Canfari, first president of Juventus. After a year, however, I already arrive Enrico's moment, who went out of his way to organize the first matches and find the first game uniforms. The new president, however, was able to enjoy little of his creature. In 1915, in fact, Enrico left as a volunteer for the First World War and he met death in battle. A few months earlier he had helped to accomplish Hurray, the first black and white newspaper. Colors that, however, were not always of these two colors. Because of the costs, in fact, the first uniforms were cheap pink gingham shirts, a fabric that cost only seventy cents per meter.
E so the Juventus players took the field until 1902, complete with a white Savoyard hat, a sash at the waist, a tie and black shorts. The black and white was born when, once the uniforms were worn out, Goodley and Savage, the first foreigners in Juventus history, ordered the new uniforms from a Nottingham trader. But the latter, instead of sending the requested red shirts, sent the Notts County suits, who wore black and white. The error initially opposed the supporters, who soon, however, they began to identify with that pair which has meant victory for 122 years. Yes, because Juventus he won his first title as early as 1905, just eight years after its foundation. And since then, for over a hundred years, in Turin (but there are many Juventus supporters throughout Italy and around the world) this magnificent habit has never been lost.
